Welcome to How to Make a Habit!
Thanks for joining me! I hope you enjoy creating and changing your habits for the better!
So many choices you think you make are not really a choices, but habits.
From brushing our teeth in the morning to driving to work without any recollection of how we got there, habits make up a large portion of our actions.
“Most of the choices we make each day may feel like the products of well-considered decision making, but they’re not. They’re habits.”
-Charles Duhigg, “The Power of Habit”
If you’re like most of us, you have habits you like (we call them “good” habits) and habits you don’t (we call these “bad” habits). But they’re all just habits. And these habits can be changed.
How would you like to be able to change your habits effectively? Guess what? You can! But what works for one doesn’t always work for all. That’s where this site comes in. Tried doing a habit for X days and still forget it? Then that technique isn’t for you. Here, you can find another technique to change your habits for good!
I Know What You’re Here For!
You want to create (or break) a habit. Here’s the good news: you’ve come to the right place.
How to Make a Habit is designed to help you find exactly how to create or break that habit you’ve always wanted to.
The bad news? There’s no single way for everyone to create a habit. There’s not even a single way for one person to make or break every habit on their own.
But Wait! Don’t Leave!
This site is filled with ideas on how to make that habit! Not only that, it’s got suggestions on how to track your habits as you work on them, and even ideas on the next habit to work on!
Ahem. Back on topic.

How To Make A Habit The Duhigg Way
Habits are essentially repeated behaviors. The habit loop (a term Charles Duhigg uses in “The Power of Habit”) is made up of a cue, a behavior, and a reward. A habit is formed as the craving for the reward is prompted by a cue over and over.
Habits are behaviors that happen when motivation, ability, and a prompt occur at the same time, according to BJ Fogg, Ph.D. And creating a reward for doing the behavior helps.
